Important Update Regarding Kogan Con
I have some news regarding Kogan Con. Now, don’t worry! It’s good news! As some of you might not have known, Kogan Con was started as an LLC, which is a for-profit company. When we, my fellow board members and I, started this journey, we knew that we weren’t looking to make a profit off of this venture, not even the least bit. We founded Kogan Con on the basis of creating a place where people of like-minded “nerdiness” could come together and share, learn, and experience the world of Japanese Animation (Anime) and Graphic Novels (Manga), Video Games, Tabletop Games, etc. Anything “nerdy”. So, with our first Convention approaching fast, we have made the leap and have become a non-profit company, to fully support our shared vision for what we wanted this to be. We are currently working towards gaining our 501c3 status, but this is a huge milestone for us to have reached!
Currently, we are going through each of the steps associated with this change, so a few things to note:
-Our badge sales will be offline for a few days while we configure our new system.
-All badge purchases that have been made will be honored and valid.
-Nothing will have changed from the “previous” Kogan Con, to the “new” Kogan Con. Still the same rules, events, badge prices, etc.
To Artists and Vendors:
-Due to how our invoicing system works, we will be sending you new invoices once we transition our new system, but no pricing, provisions, agreements, or anything regarding your space reservation will change with the system change. Those artists and vendors who have already paid for your spaces, all purchases are honored and valid. And those that have sent in applications, they will still be honored and valid, and they will have priority over those who apply after this change.
-No changes in the review and approval process by Kogan Con shall take place following these changes.
-All agreements and negotiations made before this change will be valid and honored, and nothing discussed will have changed.
Thank you all so much for your continued support, and we are so excited for the First Annual Kogan Con!
See you all in July,
Kogan Con Chairwoman
Our First Convention is set for July 20-21, 2018 at the Grand Haven Community Center, located right in Downtown Grand Haven, Michigan.
Kogan Con is a non-profit organization dedicated to creating awareness of, and appreciation for, Japanese Animation (Anime), Graphic Novels (Manga), Gaming, Comics, and related popular artforms, primarily through the presentation of conventions and events that celebrate and study the historic and ongoing contribution of these artforms to popular cultures.
Kogan Con was formed in 2015 in beautiful Grand Haven, Michigan, with the collective dream of our of creating a space where "nerdy" people would feel welcome and safe. A space where they could enjoy and interact with others sharing similar interests, be it Anime(Japanese Animation), Manga (Japanese Graphic Novels), or Comic Books and Gaming, and everything "nerdy" in between.
There was also the dream of spreading community kindness and fundraising opportunities through the closeness and generosity that we, the staff members, have experienced within the "Anime Convention scene". (Keep an eye out for those plans to come in the future!)
